Baby tricks... Rolling over

Rolled over for the first time today out of sheer dislike for tummy time.

I did it! Just like Adam

Adam has the dad techniques that I try to emulate but rarely succeed. For nap time he just lays Harper on his chest and pats her belly, and off she drifts into a peaceful sleep. I always have to use the breastfeeding mom technique, which is less convenient sometimes. Well, I finally got the belly pat to work just this one time and was so proud of myself, even if I never get it again.

Leprechaun trap

For Owen's first school project we got up early on Friday morning and gathered supplies we had on hand... box, tissue paper, stickers, play-coins, colored paper and tape. Now we are all set to pull together a last minute assignment. Maybe next time I will read the teacher's note before 10 pm on the night before it is due. But, I think it was not half-bad.

Brother loves his little girl

Owen tells us "This sure is the baby I wanted." He really does love his sister and it's a good thing since we aren't going to get him a different baby.

4 month check up

14 lbs 11 oz and 23.5 in
60th percentile for weight is a big jump up from 4th percentile at birth.

Monster truck bus ride

Cuz, you never know when you will get another chance.

Preschool is exhausting

No sleep for little girl at preschool means we have an extra sleepy baby in the evenings and on the weekend. She seriously slept from 10-4 on Saturday, only waking to tell me to change her diaper and eat. Her second day was a little easier, eating more and even slept almost a whole hour, if you add up all the little cat naps.

Big girl bumpo

Hanging out with daddy today was lots of fun for the kids. Harper relinquished her stand against the bottle and willing drank all her milk today. It was a great relief for all of us. And she got to try out a new view on the world from the bumpo.

Soaking it all in

Today is my last day home before I start back to work tomorrow. It has been so nice to spend almost 4 months with my little girl and her big brother. She is growing so fast. Already has a different personality than her brother, who by the way has been an amazing help. I am so lucky that Owen is so great with his sis. He loves taking care of her and tells me how happy he is to have her every day. I will miss having this little munchkin in my arms but now daddy will get to start his own routine with the kids on his days home. I have a feeling Harper just might be a daddy's girl already.

First day of preschool

Hair slicked back, cool kicks, new shirt, backpack on. What a big boy! The only clue that he is still my little monster is the backpack is stuffed with extra clothes and his nap time blankey.

He was so excited for school. He made friends with a little boy right away.
Boy: look at my jet.
Owen: I have a jet.
Boy: mine is a transformer.
Owen: I have a transformer. Hi, my name is Owen.

We always work on how to introduce yourself. I was so proud!

Rules of the gym

As Owen is about to go to gymnastics class I impart my best mom advice:
"Look at the teacher when she is talking and don't pick your nose."

Goodbye Texas

Passed out before the airplane took off.

Thanks Nana and Grandpa for a fun week of dinosaurs, football, and snow.
