Just say no to diapers

This must be one of the very best milestones to check off... potty trained! It is even worth writing about, (even though it has been awhile). For months he has successfully been peeing in the pot on a regular basis and we were tossing more dry pullups than dirty but we could not get him to go number 2 in the potty. There was lots of hiding from us just so we would stop asking him to go to the bathroom. And forcing it would just cause the whole process to stop and that is not helpful at all. So we finally resorted to a bribe - any toy your heart desires. And you  know what, it totally worked. After talking about this "present for pooping" for just 3 days he came right out and asked to poo in the potty. And has been happy to do so ever since.

I am pretty sure my sister and I were raised on bribes. "A quarter if you will get mom a glass of water." "Ice cream if you finish all your peas." I think they were on to something. That pressent was such a strong motivation to my toddler who was doing everything in his power to keep from having to poo on the pot.
