Adam goes back to work

We knew this day would have to come eventually, but it just does not seem like it has been three weeks already. Adam had his first full day back to work. And Owen and I had the whole day together, so we ran a couple of errands and took a nap and watched some movies. It was a good day, but, we missed Daddy.

Riding Roller Coasters

Owen is dreaming about ridding roller coasters, already a daredevil and raising his arms going down the big drops. And, Mom is probably just dreaming about more naptime.

Baby Goes Camping

We were really excited to get out of the house for the whole day and visit our friends camping outside of Truckee. After a stop at the grocery store for snacks, a quick gas stop and a baby feeding stop we finally arrived at Jackson Meadows. The weather was warm but not hot and we were all going to go to the lake. But, we heard a thunderstorm approaching so we figured we would wait for the few sprinkles to pass.

Well, the sprinkles were accompanied by hail, it got kinda chilly and lasted a few hours. We saw a few lightning strikes in the distance and the thunder was really booming. We all had to bunker down under their shade cover, and then had to add a tarp to keep the rain from coming through the not so waterproof cover. We had quite a few blankets so we were pretty warm. Owen was totally relaxed. All the rain and thunder, plus lots of warm covers and he slept right through it (except when he woke up to eat and pee).We had a fun adventure, and even though we were all exhausted when we got home, it sure was nice to get outdoors and enjoy the very fresh air.

Initiating Auntie

This weekend Aunt Jessica came to visit and Owen gave her a proper initiation to babysitting. This morning she helped give Owen a bath, she was the rinser and she kept his belly warm to keep him calm.
Jess had to change his outfit three times today because he is really good at peeing in the middle of a diaper change and she had not quite mastered the peepee teepee technique.

Outfit number two was Jess's fav.

Owen and Pene

Pene is really careful around Owen. She is trying to sleep on her back, just like the baby.

Owen likes watching Pene and relaxing with her.

Big Boy Bathtub

Today Owen had a bath in his rainforest bath tub. He actually liked it. Dad soaped him up while Mom kept him warm with lots of warm water on his belly. Then we all spent the rest of the day laying around on the couch watching movies and relaxing because it was the first day we did not have any plans for visitors or places to go.

Zoo trip today

We took Owen on his first Zoo visit today. And eveyone held him and said how cute he was. Of couse he was sleeping and easy to find adorable. We even busted in on the managers meeting which Owen objected to and started getting fussy right away, but nobody likes meetings right.

Two diaper changes, a little pee on my front passenger seat, one outfit change and overall a sucessful trip.

Then, all three of us took a nap when we got home.

Gaining weight -- whooray

Doctors apointment today and Owen weighed in at 7 pounds 6 ounces. He is such a good eater!

The doctor didn't say, but from this picture it is obvious he is also really smart. Can't you see how Owen is deep in thought. He must be thinking up some great scientific theory or maybe he is just dreaming about milk.

Out and About

We had a big adventure- a trip to Old Navy, Target and Chipolte. Owen slept the whole time but was looking cool trying on sunglasses while mommy was shopping in Old Navy.

Later, Ryan and Christine visited and Ryan played with Owen while Christine made us delicious dinner.

Splish splash it's sponge bath time

Owen's first sponge bath - he did not get upset when we washed his head, but then he really did not love being all naked and wet even though we dried off each body part as we went. And of course when we got to his tushie he had to squirt out some poo in protest. But, we figured that was coming.

Bye bye Grandma and Grandpa. Thanks again for all the help. We really enjoyed not having to make any food, clean our dishes, wash our laundry or do any other housework. Oh and Owen really liked being held all day long.

Gramdma Marla and the Kids

Today we had a full house of kids. Owen hung out with all his cousins - Clayton, Ryan, Madelyn, and Stone. Here is their Grandma Marla with all the kids.
We had our second outing tonight - to Yogalato! This time it was a lot more fun. Owen slept the whole time in his car seat and there was frozen yogurt, so what's not to like about that trip.

Birthday hugs are the best kind of hugs

Today was grandpa's birthday and grandma made a great home cooked dinner to celebrate with fillet and crab legs. Plus Owen turned 5 days old. They grow so fast:)
Owen actually spent a few hours wide awake today. He likes when people sing to him, even if the songs make no sense bc mommy doesn't know the words. He also likes to look at the paintings in his room. All of daddy's work is already paying off.

What goes in must come out

Yesterday I heard Adam in Owen's room say "oh nooo." Adam had Owen almost into a clean diaper and was thinking "I haven't been pee'd on yet. I wonder if he could pee through the petroleum jelly." And just then he sees a fountain of pee, he threw a pee pee teepee which landed with great accuracy only to see this all followed by a fresh poo. Diaper changes are always fun.

After he was all cleaned up, grandpa held Owen nearly all afternoon and mommy and daddy got to take a nice nap.

Grandpa Kraft and the Denhams Visit

Today Owen met his grandpa Kraft, his aunt Marissa and uncle Trevor and his cousin Stone. Everyone had a good time and Owen slept peacefully even when all the boys were playing pool.
Poop update: there is lots of it and Owen does not like sitting in a dirty diaper and he always lets us know right away so we can clean him up. Adam really has the hang of the cloth diaper now with all the practice. Pene also alerts us to dirty diapers, she is quite the mothering pup.I know we will look back at this picture some day and say "they used to be so sweet, how did they turn into such trouble."

We are home

We all got our clean bills of health and made it home today. Then we got to try out some of the really cool gifts from all of our friends.

Owen really liked his car seat and sat wide awake in it for most of the way home. Then he got to meet the rest of his family. Jax and Pene are really interested in this little guy, especially when he starts crying, they both come to help out. Pene really wants to lick him and Jax just sniffs him like crazy.
Owen is still sleeping and eating like champ, and excelling in the pooping catergory. Mom and dad are doing well too.

Now we just need to upload the 400 pictures we took the last three days and we will post some better quality pics. Glad our iPhones kept us in touch though.

Day two and more poo

We are happy to report more poo, lots of eating and plenty of sleeping in happy grandparents arms. We are going home tomorrow and will probably be doing lots more of the same.

One of the coolest things is seeing how Owen knows his daddy's voice. He turns to watch him whenever he hears him talking or singing. He also loves dad's burrito wrapping skills which calm him right down most of the time.

Meet Owen Louis Kraft

Our little man was born July 11th at 10:55 am. 6 pounds 15 ounces and 19.5 inches long.

He is doing really well, eating, pooping and sleeping. He was alays the most active in my belly between 9 and 11 pm. Turns out he is continuing that trend. He did not sleep much last night but he had a lot of sleep after all the hard work he went though yesterday during the day.
