Memorial Day

Owen hosted his very first BBQ. Now that the backyard is finally complete and looking awesome, we can have people over to play. Got the grill cooking up some yummy venison burgers, margaritas over ice, and the sun is shining. A game of disk golf in the back yard then moving inside for a round of pool. It is so nice to spend time with good friends and family, especially on a Monday holiday!

Owen practices his forearm shot.

Ryan looks like a pro - maybe it is just the camera angle.

Hands and Knees

Today Owen decided to only crawl on his hands and knees all of a sudden and we didn't see him doing his army crawl at all. He even dodges Pene like a pro, avoiding a lick to the face and it doesn't even slow him down.

Sorting laundry

We are supposed to sort the colors, right? Or, was that before the laundry was washed?
Owen pulled every piece of clothing out of the laundry basket... which turns out to be a great way to entertain a baby so you can get dinner made.

Cheering at cousin Clayton's baseball game with Grandma.

Then, we get to wish cousin Stone a happy 1st birthday.
And the doggies came too!

bye mom

Owen gives lots of love in the morning before I head off to work.

And in the afternoon, he really enjoys hanging out in the outdoors and bouncing away while laughing at the dogs running around.

Let em buck

That's what the back of his so cool pearl-snaps shirt says.

Even cowboys have to learn how to use chopsticks in Cali.

Always moving

The engineer - build it...

Then demolish it.

I don't need no stinking nap. Oh that stink is my diaper.

It's so sunny out here.

Clapping to the Rhythm

Owen just learned how to clap! He holds his right hand steady and only moves his left. I guess it is easier to hit a stationary object. He still has his awesome head shaking move and adds in a clap to make for some awesome dancing.

Aunt Jessi Sue caught this moment by replaying the Bones theme over and over.

Happy Anniversary to us

To celebrate our six-year anniversary we went wine tasting and even stayed overnight. It was my first night away from Owen and Jess came out to watch him. They had a good day together and Owen did just what I told Jess to expect until 3am when he decided to give his aunt a real challenge getting him back to sleep. But they both seemed happy in the morning when we got home. And we all needed an afternoon siesta when Owen took his nap.

Owen wished us a goodnight- thanks sis for sending us pictures durring our trip.

Happy Mothers Day

We went to brunch last weekend to celebrate.

And Owen made this lovely gift at daycare.

I am so lucky to have such a beautiful boy. He fills my world with sunshine. He is amazing. I love his smile and his sad frown. I love watching him learn new things everyday. I can't stop hugging and kissing my baby. And I still love him even though he peed on me after his bath tonight and it's not exactly a little tinkle anymore. But I laughed and hugged him anyway.

Owen is also lucky to have wonderful grandmas and aunts and many wonderful friends to love him too. Happy mothers day to all of you.

Play with me

Come on Jax, get up and play with me.

New lights

The day before my due date we went and bought new lights for over our pool table. Well while we were at the store I started having contractions and Owen was born the next morning. So this project has been waiting for us to have time. And now it's done!!!

So tired

Owen had a little more trouble the past two nights falling asleep when he woke up a couple hours after going to bed. And then today at day care he decided he didn't want to nap and really wanted to be a part of the action. So with only an hour nap all day he was worn out tonight.

Finished all his dinner and then just couldn't keep his eyes open any longer.

Laundry day

Helping mom with the laundry. But I think she might be trying to trap me here. It's only going to slow me down a little though.

Busy week

I luv my new sippy cup with a straw. This is way easier than those other ones which I never got tipped up all the way.

Owen is getting to be such a big boy. This was a big week for him. He is still doing well going to sleep. He started earlier this week taking 35 minutes to fall asleep on his own. Then is was 15, then 8, then 5 minutes last night. And he only woke up once during the night. All this extra sleep has given him the energy to master new skills this week.
Owen can get himself from his belly to a sitting position all by himself today. I realize all kids learn how to do this, but it was pretty amazing to watch him figure it out and perfect this skill.
He also pulled himself to standing along the couch a couple times. And he took a few real steps holding onto grandma Marla's hands.
At this rate he will be riding a bike next week:)
