All your favorite Suess characters

Sam I Am with a plate of green eggs and ham
Horton hears a who
and of course
the Cat in the Hat is juggling trouble

Believe it or not, this means the final character is complete. YAY!!!! Now Adam is just going to go around and do some touch up before putting the rest of the furniture in place. His 36 week deadline is up, so he is right on time.

What are we going to do for the next 4 weeks? Certainly not wait patiently.

Base-jumping Fish w/ Purple Parachutes

The beginging of the final wall...

This rock formation is really cool with the little house in the middle and the fish are base-jumping off the waterfall.

3rd Wall DONE! Yay!

This wall is all kinds of fun fish. The dog fish is chasing the cat fish. The kangaroo fish has a baby joey fish in her pouch. And the ROYGBIV clown fish are perfectly balanced on the tiny snail.

Adam is already started on the last wall, with some of the classic Seuss characters to come.

Dog Fish

Don't you all think this dog fish is a mix of Pene and Jax? He has Jax's good looks but definately has Pene's cheerful personality.

Stoney meet your cousin

Adam has not had time to paint this week since he and his dad were pouring concrete in the back yard. Looks great though and now we have enough room to have a BBQ and table.

Big news this week was the arrival of Stonewall Jackson Denham III. Adam's little sister gave birth to a 7lb 7oz 20.5in baby boy on May 19th. Stoney got to meet his impending cousin this weekend... well he enjoyed sleeping on my belly anyhow.

He is so sweet. It will be lots of fun to have cousins only 2 months apart, just like my sis and cousin.

From Pencil to Paint

To begin Adam started by sketching all the characters. Now as he makes his way around the room, he paints over the sketch with the base character colors, then re-sketches the detail on top. Lastly, he takes a fine brush to paint all the black details... this is the part that really takes the most time and patience.

You can see a bit of the process in the pictures of the three guys in the bucket and the walrus on the island. It starts with just a pencil drawing and then there are pictures of different stages of the process.

The guys in the bucket will be looking down over the crib.
