Owen has graduated to the big tub. He likes to splash around and play with his tug boat.

Siesta

Owen was hanging out with me while I worked on the computer. He was playing with his toys and practicing tummy time and all of a sudden he was just asleep on my legs. And he still got one sock off.

Back in Cali again

All unpacked and home in our own bed, ahhh I missed you, pillow. Owen is supper confused about the time of day since we were up so late last night. And he doesn't have a bunch of people to play with so I think he is bored with us. But he sure is happy to see his doggies.

Museum day

We visited the Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth on our last day in Texas. Great Renaissance art at the Kimbell and a couple good pieces at The Modern. But the florescent light positioned at an angle on the wall does not make for art.




We flew home today and Owen did really well. He only got a little irritated because he pooped during take off and we had to wait for the seatbelt light to go off. But then he slept through the second half of the flight and didn't wake up all the way until we got home at 11:30. So it was 1 am before we got him to bed again.

No rest for the wicked

Owen took his troubled sleeping to the extreme this morning when he woke every two hours and then at 5 am decided not to go back to sleep. Mommy could no longer hold her head up so she bundled Owen in lots of layers, then Daddy took him out to look for deer around the airpark. Owen really likes the outdoors and he calmed right down. They saw another hunter and then Grandpa showed up looking for deer too.

Fancy Lunch

This old gas station is now the fancy lunch spot in Granbury. We drove 45 minutes for burgers and steaks. They were good but not fancy like we expected.

First Fishing Trip

Owen went fishing for the first time. Even though no one caught anything, it was fun to take pictures. Owen mostly liked sitting in the dirt and picking up grass and trying to eat it. He loves doing anything outside. This little pond is behind Grandma and Grandpa Butt's house in Texas. The airpark's runway is nearby and Owen was a little surprised by the loud noises the panes make when the take off. We all thought is was cute watching his reaction to the airplanes.

Fort Worth Zoo

We went to the Fort Worth Zoo today to get out of the house even though it was drizzly all day. So we didn't get to see all the animals, but we were able to see the primates because you can go inside and see their dens, which was cool. The gorilla was huge and was eyeing Owen. The gibbons had a really cool exhibit and put on a show. The elephants were awesome and Owen liked the bronze statue of the baby. The aviary was fun for everyone; Owen was amazed at all the pretty birds, but Grandpa might of had the most fun. One landed on Owen's shoulder and one landed on Adam's head; they really go after those seed sticks, totally worth the dollar. The Great Barrier Reef was cool because we got there during feed out and we watched them feed the sharks. They spear a mackerel and let the shark eat it off the end. One was a little greedy and they had to keep pulling it away from him. Owen liked watching them swim by real fast. Adam carried him around on his shoulders most of the time and he was having a great time blowing spit bubbles and using Daddy's ears as handles. He is definitely a Zoo kid.

Owen had his own seat and drank his bottle during take off and landing which seamed to keep his ears from hurting.

He flirted with the nice lady across from us and smiled at everyone as they deplaned. And we made it to Texas without any crying. Although he cried most of the way home in the car just to show us he still knew how to holler.

More peas please

Owen likes his peas so much that he wants to feed himself. So we really have to hold onto the spoon. Real food is so much fun!

Yummy peas

Mommy made me my very first peas. She steamed some organic peas and used the magic bullet to puree them just right. I loved them and didn't even spit any out. Way better than rice cereal.

6 month check up

Owen had his 6 month doctors visit today and is doing great. 17 pounds 10 ounces, 25 inches long and in the 50th percentile. He had 5 shots today including the flu shots so he needed extra cuddle time with daddy today.

Hiring a baby sitter

Owen has been extra fussy lately while he is teething so Daddy ha taken to cuddling with him during nap time. But he slept for 3 hours today which is a lot.

This same cute baby is not sleeping so sweetly at night or during his naps. Being a baby is tough work.

First day of 2010

Owen was so happy to spend the first day of the new year with great friends and his happy parents. He even got a new big boy toy so he can ride all around the house in a few months.

Up Way Too Late

Owen woke up at midnight on New Years Eve when the neighbors, and Daddy, were outside setting off fireworks. It took him a while to calm down and then fall back asleep. So were were all up until 2 am celebrating the New Year.
