Raspberries

Owen really enjoyed daddy blowing raspberries on his belly.

Mud bath

I found it is possible but not easy to shop at the farmers market with a fussy baby in one arm and a bag of fruit in the other. Yes I had a stroller in the car but Owen was not interested. Who can blame him though, it was a hot uncomfortable day. So Owen had to wear his dorky sun hat and we made it a fast trip. Owen was fussy most of the day but the real trouble maker in the house was Pene. She decided to pamper herself with a mud bath from the neighbors water runoff in the sideyard. And when we got home from Foy's birthday she was covered head to toe in a thick coat of wet mud.

Mmm tacos

The newlywed Springhorns came over for venison taco night and Owen gave Steven some practice in soothing techniques and diaper changes. But the squirmy baby didn't make it easy on Steven.

Mmm smells sweet

There is nothing sweeter than the smell of a freshly washed baby all cozy in his pjs.

Oh so cool!

Owen was looking good while at costco. The lights were pretty bright so Owen borrowed daddy's shades.

Daddy daycare

Daddy and Owen just chillin together while mom gets some hair therapy.

Too tired

We had lots of plans today but we were just too tired to do anything. Dad slept on one couch and mom and Owen slept on the other, Pene and Jax dosed too. It was a relaxing afternoon.

So fresh and so clean

Today was busy day, cleaning around the house, running errands and then a visit at the Zoo to say farewell to Jim. And after our big day our little man was due for a scrubbing. Mommy is getting a little better at bathing baby all by myself. The trick is to go fast and have everything in place before undressing Owen. Then we finish up by blowdrying Owen so he is warm, dry and snuggly.

Hi Donovan!

Owen got to meet Donovan when we went to the Gregory's today to see daddy. Donovan really liked the trucks on Owen's shirt but was not real sure what he thought of the baby.



Dad was getting cleaned up and doing some laundry since he has been out hunting this week.

Smiles

Baby smiles will make your heart smile.

Owen is just starting to smile at us and it is so adorable. Today he played in his play gym and even had some tummy time. He was having a good time and played for almost a half hour before he demanded to be picked up.

You can almost see a smile in this picture. He was making cute cooing sounds too.

Big weekend

What a wonderful weekend with lots of family. Owen already misses all his snuggle buddies and Mom misses extra helpers for diaper changes.
Now time for a nap.

Reading the Funny Pages with Gramps

Grandpa is really good at burping the baby, well that is until he gets distracted by the comics.

Owen wanted to get all dressed up to celebrate Great Uncle Jimmy's birthday, and thought it would be funny if he dressed like a old man. Plaid and stripes are even cute on this kid.

Owen had a really busy day. We went to the farmers market in Elk Grove and got some really yummy fruit, but did not find the strawberries Marisa told us about. And tonight we went out for yummy Italian dinner. Thankfully we already had our food when the electricity went out; Owen enjoyed the peaceful dimmed room, and slept the whole time. (we didn't let him wear the plaid shorts with his dress shirt though)

3 month old babysitter

Cousin Stone stopped by on his way to Grandma Marla's and he was practicing caring for Owen. What a good older cousin Stone is growing up to be!When Owen sleeps he practices moving his arms and hands about and was trying to look through his binoculars. Mommy tried to see what he was looking at.
Aunt Jess gave him a bottle tonight. He has been practicing drinking from a bottle almost every night. It gives mommy a little more freedom and he gets to bond in new ways with his family. Plus, it is a bit more rewarding for Aunt Jess than just changing his diaper over and over again.

Great Uncles and Great Aunts are the Greatest

Today Owen had his one month doctors visit and he moved up to the 50th percentile for his weight at 9 pounds 9 ounces. What a big boy!

Then Owen's Great Uncle Jimmy and Great Aunt Judy drove up from SoCal to visit for the weekend.
Aunt Judy thought he was so precious and Uncle Jimmy entertained him with "dancing phalanges."

Gassy pants

Today was cranky baby day. One minute he seems happy and calm.


Next minute he is not so happy.


Dad got out a bunch of big burps which seemed to help.

But at least he is stylin in his collared pjs. Barney Stinson would approve.

Sneaky smirk

Grandma took this picture before she had to leave. It was a really short overnight visit but Owen loves being held by grandma because she makes funny faces at him and he makes smirks at her.

Sleepy Sunday

We got home really late from Santa Barbara last night and had to rest up today to recover.

Kevin and Kristen came over to visit and fought over who got to hold Owen. Then when Owen woke up from his nap he tried to use Kevin's nose to nurse, which was pretty funny.

Santa Barbara Slideshow

We had such a good time in Santa Barbara and Owen was such a trooper. He wanted to stay and enjoy the surf some more. He loved the sounds of the ocean and dozed in the breeze. The trip home was long because we were all hot and tired. Owen made it a little more interesting during one diaper stop: he went through 3 diapers during one changing, pee'd on my seat and his blanket, and pooped mid changing.

Paige and steven get married.

Today we went to the Springhorn/Osborn wedding in Santa Barbara. Owen was a gentleman the whole time, and was pretty good with the ladies! Congrats to steven and paige!!!

Road trip!!!!

Today we drove down to Santa Barbara for the spinghorn wedding tomorrow. Owen behaved very well during the seven hour drive - only a few diaper changes and a couple feedings. Owen saw the ocean for the first time and even got to put his feet in the water and the sand.



Owen says hi from the beach!

After the beach we went into downtown and enjoyed some excellent sushi. Owen slept the entire time and allowed us to enjoy the meal. Then we had a great walk on state street and enjoyed the annual Santa Barbara fiesta. So far - a great trip and we are looking forward to the wedding tomorrow.

Sleepy baby

Owen needed a lot of extra rest today since he did not get much sleep last night. Which meant neither did Mom:(
Well I think Owen will be well rested for our trip tomorrow since he pretty much slept all day. He is really sweet when he sleeps, especially when he practices his smile and other funny faces.

Hangin with dad

Dad had an admin day today and did reports from home. He got to hang out with baby Owen during the day and night. Owen loves listening to dads voice because it calms him down when he is crying.

How cute is this face?



Well this is not the face I get when I sit down to eat. He was this calm and happy while I made dinner. I only had to stop once to change him and thought I was in the clear to eat. Not so much though. The angry hungry man wanted a snack NOW. So far everytime I try to eat on my own, my food gets cold before I get finished. And as soon as I finish Owen is charming and sweet again. Oh well, we'll figure out a dinnertime routine eventually.

Cousins make the best babysitters

Cousin Amanda loved holding Owen and did not want to give him up. He slept peacefully in her arms all afternoon.
